Biking in the Sharon

Getting up at sunrise and riding before the atrocious summer heat gets to you is an opportunity to visit some special location that otherwise one would not be familiar with.
This is the narrowest part of Israel only 13k wide. I particularly like the fig orchards with their strong summer smell and the feel as if you are in a different country.

Eurasian Pygmy-Owl (Glaucidium passerinum) כוס גמדי

Last night we found this young Pygmy Owl severely wounded in his left wing. This morning I took him to the wild animal clinic for treatment, even though it is most likely that he will never fly again. It was fascinating to be introduced to this tiny owl (19cm height) that we never knew existed here.

Shpilman Studentד Grant for Excellence in Photography

I was happy to be present tonight at the Shpilman Institute of Photography for the award ceremony to Avia Weiss.  In its sixth years now almost all recipients had forged on in developing a personal creative career in art photography. As one of the participants commented, this is a remarkable achievement for the panel of referees. Naturally, I had to agree....
